Winter Whites

Winter in New York City. Two words: OVER IT. It's so numbing cold every day and I know the worst is yet to come. But here are two more words: winter whites.

Photos can be so deceiving, they don't always paint the full picture. I would say this is probably one of the hardest aspects to this career. Producing and maintaining content while the weather is 100% against you is challenging. I double up on Vitamin C and my multi-vitamins during the winter here because I always start to feel sick when I get home after a shoot.

When you sign campaigns brands don't always take into account exactly where you live and what the weather is like there. Of course they consider if you're in the U.S. if it's a domestic campaign, but not necessarily the city you're in. For example, December for a Californian influencer looks different than that of one in New York or Ohio or Colorado. I've had bikini campaigns sent my way during the winter in New York. Okay yes... a hard pass. I'm very dedicated to my job and can push myself to make almost anything happen but a bikini in the snow is where I have to cross a line.

But it's all part of the game! You suck it up and just make it happen. In the winter I still shoot just as much as I do during any other part of the year. My photographer and I just get more strategic about it. More indoor shoots, more looks per session, pick locations that are close to each other etc. With every con you can always find a perk and a major one about NYC is the endless spots to shoot. I shared with you some of my favorite places to shoot street style photos in NYC in this recent Instagram post!
